Minecraft Port Checker

Test if port 25565 (or your custom Minecraft server port) is open to the internet.

Setting up a Minecraft server

  1. Make sure your Minecraft server is actually running on the machine you're testing.
  2. Find that machine's local IP (e.g. 192.168.1.50).
  3. Log into your router and forward TCP port 25565 to that local IP.
  4. Allow port 25565 through your computer's firewall.
  5. Come back here and click "Check port." It should show as Open.

Friends connect using your public IP (see What Is My IP). If you want a memorable address, use a dynamic DNS service like DuckDNS.

Common issues

  • "Closed": Your server isn't running, or it's bound to a different port.
  • "Filtered": Port forwarding or local firewall is blocking traffic. Check both.
  • Bedrock Edition: Uses UDP port 19132, not TCP 25565. (Our checker tests TCP only.)
